Det blir søndagsskole og konfirmantene blir med. Prest i gudstjenesten er sjømannsprest i New York Øyvind Kvarstein som gleder seg til å treffe menigheten i DC-området igjen.
«Våren melder sin ankomst også i kirken! Vi går inn i fastetiden som tar oss fram til påsken som kommer sent i år. Tekstene denne søndagen minner oss på at «hvetekornet» må ned i jorden for at nytt aks og nye korn skal vokse fram. For hvetekornet finnes ingen snarvei. Kanskje heller ikke for oss?»
There will be Norwegian food items for sale at kirkekaffe. We will also celebrate Fastelavn with Norwegian style buns/boller – feel free to bring your own for kirkekaffe (or something else)! Here’s a link to great recipe for Verdens best boller/The World’s Best Buns:

The Norwegian Church Service in Washington, D.C. welcomes you to worship at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where Services in Norwegian are held and Sunday School in Norwegian is also offered for the children. The services may include baptism, confirmation, and other functions of the ministry. After services, we sponsor an enjoyable coffee and fellowship hour. Our work is made possible through the mutually supportive work of the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in New York and the Congregation in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
